Specialist Services Available

Asthma Management Clinic

Both adults and children are seen at this clinic. An appointment can be made at reception.

Minor Surgery

Dr Johnston and Dr Murty carry out Minor Surgery at the Practice. Many minor surgical procedures such as removal of cysts, skin lesions and joint injections can be carried out under local anaesthesia. Appointments are by referral from your doctor.

Cervical Smear Clinic

Cervical screening is offered to all female patients as follows:
25-49 years at three yearly intervals and 50-64 years at five yearly intervals. Patients will be written to informing them of the result of their smear and advising them when they should make their next appointment. The clinic is held by the practice nurse.

Near Patient Testing

The treatment of several diseases, particularly in the field of rheumatology, is increasingly reliant on drugs that, while clinically effective, entail regular blood monitoring. These blood tests will be carried out by the practice nurse upon referral from your doctor.

Diabetic Clinic

This clinic is run by appointment with our diabetic nurse. Patients are referred to this clinic to obtain appropriate education and advice and reduce the risks of any complication with diabetes.

CBT - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

The Practice offers a counselling service for short term stress, anxiety and depression difficulties. This clinic has proved popular and there is a waiting list. For immediate care needs consider the counselling service Lifeline (0808 808 8000)

Anti-Coagulation Clinic

For the care of patients taking warfarin the practice nurse holds a monitoring clinic.

Other Clinics

COPD, epilepsy, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, lung disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disease, mental health and learning disabilities.

Adult Vaccinations

Tetanus and Polio - all patients should ensure they are adequately immunised against tetanus and polio.

Flu Vaccines and Pneumococcal Vaccines:

Flu Vaccines are available each September for patients over 65, pregnant women,carers at home, people under 65 with an underlying health condition. Contacts of those who were shielding can also get it at their GP.

Pre-school children aged two years or over on the 1st September 2020 can get the vaccine at the Practice.

Primary school children and Year 8 pupils will be offered the vaccine at school by the school health service.

The kids' vaccine comes in the form of a quick, painless spray up the nose rather than an injection.

In accordance with the Department of Health guidelines, we recommend that patients in the clinical risk categories outlined below obtain the Influenza (flu) vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine.

  • Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen (Re-immunisation is recommended every 5 years)
  • Chronic respiratory disease
  • Chronic heart disease
  • Chronic kidney disease(Re-immunisation is recommended every 5 years)
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Immunosuppression
  • Individuals with cochlear implants
  • Individuals with cerebrospinal fluid leaks

Travel Vaccines - please make arrangements well in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. To make an appointment please contact reception. Travel vaccines will be administered by agreement with the treatment room nurse. For complex travel to exotic locations or with prolonged stays, best advice may be obtained privately eg Lisburn Travel Clinic (Tel:028 9250 1281)

Ear Syringing

This is carried out only by prior arrangement with the treatment room nurse.

Child Health Clinic

Tuesday/Thursday 2.00 - 3.30pm
The clinics are run by Dr Wray, Dr Johnston and Dr Potter for first child development checks and immunisations.

Health Visitor

Contact via reception for ongoing baby and child health issues eg feeding.

Antenatal Clinic

Thursday 2.00 - 4.00pm
Patients are seen at the clinic by appointment with the midwife and also by doctors if necessary.

Full antenatal/postnatal care is provided by all the doctors in the practice.

Family Planning

We offer a complete range of family planning services including oral contraceptives, nexplanon/implant insertion and coil fitting.
